How do I introduce exfoliation into my skincare routine?
Introduce exfoliation gently, using the product’s directions and the lower end of its suggested frequency. Caithy Skin Brightening Exfoliator recommends 1–2 uses weekly: start with one, use light pressure on wet skin and rinse after about 30 seconds. More frequent scrubbing is not a shortcut to better results.
Understand what you are using
Caithy Skin Brightening Exfoliator contains shell powder and lactic acid, so it combines a physical exfoliating ingredient with an acid. Check the complete ingredient list and current product label before adding it to your routine.
Keep the first application simple
- Wet the skin and apply a small amount.
- Massage gently with small circular movements, avoiding the eye area.
- Rinse after about 30 seconds, following the label.
- Follow with your usual moisturiser.
Leave space between applications
Start at once weekly and keep the rest of your routine familiar. Consider a second weekly application only if your skin remains comfortable and the label allows it. Avoid stacking several exfoliating products in the same session.
Retinoids and benzoyl peroxide can make an exfoliating routine more irritating. If either is already part of your routine, do not automatically add a scrub on top. Avoid exfoliating sunburned, irritated or broken skin.
Choose comfort over intensity
Mechanical exfoliation may not suit everyone, particularly skin that is easily irritated. Aggressive exfoliation can worsen dark marks in people prone to pigmentation. A gentler routine, or leaving out exfoliation, may fit better.
Keep daytime sun protection consistent. Exfoliation is an optional step, not something you need to do daily to have a complete routine.
